Meet Maddy.

Maddy was skin and bones and very lethargic when she came into CKCF's care. Not only did she have severe diarrhea, but it had caked her rear end for so long that her skin was necrotic and scalded. Our first worry was panleukopenia, which is so often fatal in small and fragile kittens, but fortunately that test came back negative.

She visited Dr. Mendoza at Firehouse Animal Health Center for a complete check, where she was given subcutaneous fluids, syringe-fed, and given a bath to clean off her backside. She was sent home with additional fluids, diarrhea medication, and SSD cream for her raw skin - and instructions to make sure she continued to eat and pack on weight!

And she did, with gusto! It wasn't long before she was feeling well enough to play again, and after she finished out her medications she was even allowed to romp around with the other foster kittens in her household.

Not only that, but she is a TV star! She was featured on CBS Austin's Wednesday Friendsday, and you can view that segment here.

Her total bill was $142.73.
