Meet Seymour.

Seymour was found alone in a shed, suffering from pneumonia. His finder brought him to the shelter, where he spent all of his time standing upright so he could concentrate on breathing - he was not able to lay down to rest as he had to expend so much effort on each breath.

He was immediately taken to Central Texas Emergency Vet, where x-rays determined that the pneumonia was fairly severe in both lungs. After getting an IV line in so they could easily administer fluids and medication, he was placed in an oxygen chamber where he remained for days. He was syringe-fed by hand for each meal to ensure he was getting enough calories, and loved on by the amazing staff who were rooting for him as much as we were.

After a day of intensive care, he was finally able to lay down on his stuffed fish friend provided by the hospital and take a rest. He continued to improve from there.

After a week of care, he came home to his foster mom's house. He still had pneumonia and received daily medications and nebulization treatments, but he was able to enjoy being a kitten again.

Indeed, it seemed like he was making up for lost time! He was incredibly friendly, playful, curious and energetic and loved to get into everything. He wrestled all of the toys and chased all of the feather wands until finally, after he was cleared medically of all of his health issues, he was able to be placed with three other kittens to help him "learn how to cat".

Two months after he was first brought to the shelter, this incredible little man was adopted by his forever person.

His final total bill was $2,494.
